These Terms of Service ("Terms") outline the agreement between you and us regarding your use of the LectureScribe platform (the "Platform") and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using LectureScribe, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.

1. About LectureScribe

LectureScribe is designed to be your personal AI-powered transcription and note-taking platform. It helps you transform lectures, meetings, audio files, documents, and images into organized, searchable notes using advanced AI technology. Unlike traditional note-taking apps, LectureScribe uses AI to automatically transcribe, summarize, and organize your content.

3. Account Basics & Security

Account Responsibility: You are responsible for keeping your account secure. We support Firebase Authentication (Google Sign-in and email/password). We strongly recommend you use two-factor authentication where available.

Your Content: You are responsible for all content and activity under your account.

Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to use LectureScribe. If you are under 18, you must have permission from your parent or legal guardian.

Human Users Only: Accounts created by bots or automated systems are not allowed and may be terminated.

4. User Conduct & Prohibited Activities

We want LectureScribe to be a safe and productive space for everyone. You agree to use LectureScribe responsibly and not for any harmful or illegal purposes. You specifically agree not to:

Misuse the Platform:

• Systematically collect data from LectureScribe without our written permission
• Try to trick or defraud us or other users
• Interfere with the security features of the Platform
• Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to interact with the Platform
• Upload viruses, malware, or spam
• Impersonate others
• Sell or transfer your account

Upload Inappropriate Content:

• Illegal Content: Anything violating local, national, or international law
• Harmful Content: Content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, or defamatory
• Copyrighted Material: Uploading content that infringes on someone else's copyright without permission
• Malware/Harmful Code: Content containing viruses or harmful software

AI-Specific Considerations: While we use AI features to enhance your experience, these features may occasionally generate inaccurate transcriptions, summaries, or notes. We are not responsible for these inaccuracies. You use all AI-generated content at your own risk.

5. Your Content in LectureScribe

License to Operate the Service: By using LectureScribe, you grant us a license to use your content solely to operate and improve the Services for you. This includes:

• Storing and backing up your data
• Processing your uploaded files for transcription and note generation
• Displaying your generated content to you within the Platform
• Processing your data to provide platform features
• Improving the Platform's functionality and user experience

No Public Sharing: We will not publicly share, sell, or distribute your uploaded content or generated transcriptions. Your content remains private to your account.

Data Minimization: We only collect and process data strictly necessary to operate LectureScribe and provide its features.

6. Usage Limits and Subscription Plans

Billing Cycle: Subscriptions are billed monthly and automatically renew unless cancelled. Unused quotas do not carry over to the next month.

7. Purchases, Payments, and Subscriptions

Payment Methods: We accept payments through Stripe.

Subscription Management: You can manage your subscription through your account settings or the Stripe Customer Portal.

Cancellation: Canceling your subscription will prevent future charges. Your access to paid features will continue until the end of your current billing period.

Refund Policy: You can request a refund by contacting hello [at] lecturescribe.io within two (2) months of your purchase. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

8. Intellectual Property

Our Intellectual Property: We own all rights to the LectureScribe Platform, including its design, code, trademarks, and logos.

AI-Generated Content: You retain rights to content you generate through the Platform for personal and educational use. You may export and use your transcriptions and notes as needed for your own purposes.

We are not responsible for:

• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated transcriptions or summaries
• Unauthorized access to your account or data
• Interruptions or cessation of service
• Loss of data
• Consequences of relying on AI-generated content for important decisions

Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, excluding its conflict of laws principles.

Dispute Resolution: We encourage you to contact us directly at hello [at] lecturescribe.io to resolve any issues informally. If we cannot resolve a dispute amicably, any legal disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain.

12. Term and Termination

These Terms are effective as long as you use LectureScribe. We may terminate your account and access to the Services at any time, for any reason, with or without notice, including if you violate these Terms. You may also terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and requesting account deletion.
